Rendang Daging Simple Recipe

- 2 cans of coconut milk (800ml)
- 2 stalks of lemongrass (bruised)
- 5 kaffir lime leaves
- 4 tbsp kerisik (toasted coconut flakes)
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste (mixed with 1/2 cup of water)
- 3 tbsp oil
- Salt and sugar (to taste)
Instructions
Follow these simple steps to make rendang daging:- Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add the lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the beef and stir-fry until browned.
- Add the coconut milk, tamarind water, salt, and sugar.
- Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to a simmer.
- Add the kerisik and stir well.
- Continue to simmer until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened (this may take 2-3 hours).
- Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- Once the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened, turn off the heat.
- Let the rendang cool down for a few minutes before serving.
