Introduction

Ingredients

The ingredients required to make Nasi Briyani Daging are:
  • 500g of beef
  • 2 cups of basmati rice
  • 2 onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp of ginger paste

  • 2 tbsp of tomato paste
  • 1 tsp of cumin powder
  • 1 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp of garam masala
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Water as required

Instructions

1. Wash the beef and cut it into small pieces. 2. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt. 3. Add the beef to the bowl and mix well. Let it marinate for at least an hour. 4. Wash the rice and soak it in water for half an hour. 5. In a pot, heat oil and add the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods and bay leaves. Fry until fragrant. 6. Add the sliced onions and fry until golden brown. 7. Add the chopped garlic and fry for a minute. 8. Add the chopped tomatoes and fry until the tomatoes are cooked. 9. Add the marinated beef and fry until the meat is browned. 10. Add the tomato paste and fry for a minute. 11. Add water and bring it to a boil. 12. Cover the pot and let the beef cook for at least 30 minutes or until the meat is tender. 13. In a separate pot, boil water and add salt. Add the soaked rice and cook until the rice is half done. 14. Drain the water from the rice. 15. In the pot with the cooked beef, add the half-cooked rice on top of the beef. 16. Cover the pot and let it cook on low heat for at least 20 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked. 17. Once the rice is fully cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let it rest for at least 10 minutes. 18. Serve the Nasi Briyani Daging hot with some raita or acar.
